My Career as a Gynaecologist

My Career as a Gynaecologist

By Okafor Sharon

Gynaecology, a branch of medicine focused on the female reproductive system, is fascinating. It involves the formation, development, and delivery of babies. My inspiration comes from Lawrence Davis, a renowned gynecologist who graduated from Harvard with a perfect CGPA of 5.0. She completed her residency at Harvard Medical School and was recruited as one of their best doctors at the age of 28. Her achievements inspire aspiring gynecologists like me.

Gynaecology is a remarkable profession, offering the responsibility of saving life. However, it can be heartbreaking when complications arise, and a mother or baby is lost, especially after the long, strenuous journey of pregnancy and labour. Thankfully, such cases are rare today.

The joy of bringing a child into the world and witnessing the happiness of parents and relatives outweighs the challenges. Routine checks on the mother and child, ensuring their well-being, bring immense satisfaction. I look forward to experiencing the joy of helping bring a child into the world and being part of that special moment.

In conclusion, gynaecology offers profound knowledge of life before and after birth, along with personal health benefits for the practitioner. To top it all, the salary is significant. Would you like to pursue this career with me?
