MGI spreads virtual scrabble to schools in Nigeria

After concluding the widely successful Mindgames Virtual Scrabble League Series where players from over 22 countries participated, organisers have concluded plans to introduce the virtual version of the sport to schools in Nigeria.

The online tournament was born due to need to keep players busy as a result of the challenges occasions by the pandemic Covid-19.

Jesse Day from the United States won the maiden MGI Virtual International Scrabble Championship, which featured players from across the world.

The scrabble championship, which had three Nigerians in the semi-finals, including former world champion, Wellington Jighere, Eta Karo and John Aiyedun, was filled with fanfare and excitement as the players battled for the top spot.

Students now have an opportunity to compete at the MGI Virtual School Scrabble Tournament which will hold from February 12-13, 2020.

This was disclosed through a statement by the organiser signed by Lukeman Owolabi.
