Examination malpractice

Exam malpractice, the act of cheating or engaging in unethical behaviour during examination, has become a prevalent issue in the educational system worldwide. It undermines the integrity of the assessment process, devalues the hard work of the students and creates an environment where dishonesty is normalised.

Exam malpractices are caused by many reasons, namely, pressure to succeed, lack of preparation, peer influence, corruption in the educational system and inadequate supervision, among others.

Consequences of examination malpractice include unfair advantages, student intellectual growth, erosion of academic integrity, legal and academic consequences and undermining national development.

There are many ways in which society can conquer examination malpractices. They are promoting ethical values and integrity, strengthening the examination supervision

Encouraging proper preparation, use of technology to prevent cheating with the help of anti-cheating mechanisms and lastly, by encouraging parents and guardians.

In conclusion, examination malpractice is a serious challenge that threatens the credibility of the educational system and the future of students. Addressing the root causes, promoting academic integrity and enhancing strict consequences for offenders are crucial steps towards eliminating this menace. Through the culture of honesty and hardwork, it can be cultivated, ensuring that education remains a fair and just pathway to success.
