Association launches tree planting in Kano schools

The Bichi development association, Fitilar Jama’ar Bichi, has launched a tree planting campaign at primary schools in the Bichi Local Government Area.

Launching the programme at Kanti Primary School, Bichi, the chairman of the association Alhaji Rilwanu Idris Malikawa Garu said the association launched the exercise as part of its efforts in providing conducive environment of teaching and learning in all primary schools in the area and fighting against desertification in the local government.

Alhaji Rilwanu said they provide available seedlings that would be distributed to primary schools in the local government and well-meaning people in the area.

He urged the headmasters of the schools to ensure they take measures of protecting the planted trees in their schools.

The chairman reiterated the association’s determination in coming up with more policies and programmes that would move the area forward.

On his part, Bichi Local Government education secretary, Alhaji Auwalu Bichi, commended the association for re-introducing tree planting campaigns in the schools which he described as timely.
